Treatment of Periodontal Disease
The treatment of periodontal disease varies at each stage. We will decide the best treatment after examining your gums and teeth and determining the source of the problem. In general, the first step of the treatment includes deep cleaning. This procedure involves the removal of tartar and plaque from your teeth and roots.
Once the bacteria and plaque are removed, your gums will start healing naturally. If the disease has reached a more advanced stage, we may perform scaling and root planing to address it. We may also perform a gum graft surgery by taking tissue from the roof of your mouth or any other area and then grafting it on the infected area.
If your gum disease has led to bone loss, we may also perform a bone graft to strengthen and restore your teeth. Under this procedure, we will use natural or synthetic bone to compact and seal the area.
